Can’t delete or rename a file on windows?

Me either, happens all the damn time, you get a message like “The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process”. When you know damn well there’s nothing accessing it. It’s a damn movie file you never even got round to watching from about a year ago.

Anyways, how to fix. You could always try rebooting. Done that? Yeah me too. I’ve tried renaming it too, but get the same message. Perhaps my virus checker or the search indexing software is stuck on it?

Well, after killing AVG (and all associated processes) I can now rename it. So that is one thing. I still cannot delete it. AGH!

Now the error message is “Cannot delete (file name) is it in use by another process or program”… no wait, it’s gone. Hurrah!

Now, I’d better restart AVG.
